جَدَّتي لَمْ تَعُدْ تَعْرِفُنا.
لَكِنَّها تَعْرِفُ نَظْرَةَ أَبي، وَلَمْسَةَ أُمِّي، وَوُرودَ أَخي، وَرَقْصَةَ أُخْتي، وَأَلْحاني. جَدَّتي تَنْسى كَثيرًا، الوُجوهَ وَالأَسْماءَ، الأَيَّامَ وَالأَشْهُرَ، تَنْسى الكَلِمات... لَمْ يَعُدْ في ذاكِرَةِ جَدَّتي سِوى أُغْنِيَةٍ قَديمَةٍ، وَحُبٍّ كَثير...

My grandma no longer recognizes us.
But she recognizes my father's look, my mother's touch, my brother's roses, my sister's dance, and my melodies.
My grandma forgets a lot, the faces and the names, the days and months, she forgets the words…
There’s nothing left in my grandma’s memory but an old song, and great love…
